ATTENTION: Calling on all who know of members of the Yugoslav Army in the Homeland (JVUO) and/or Members and Supporters of the Ravna Gora Movement!

Ravna Gora, Serbia

Aleksandra's Note: I am very pleased to announce that a remarkable and important project has been initiated to create a comprehensive collection of all active members of the Yugoslav Army in the Homeland (JVuO), under the supreme command of General Draza Mihailovich between 1941 and 1945, as well as all members and supporters of the Ravna Gora Movement, whether they were active members of the wartime military units or not. This incredible initiative was founded by Mr. Branko M. Jevtic, whose contact information and descriptions of what this project encompasses is found below. The subjects highlighted include specific information regarding the data that is being requested and who is eligible to be included in these collections, as well as a description of the special exhibit that opened in the Ravna Gora Museum on Ravna Gora in Serbia to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the Victory over Fascism in May of 2010.

For clarity, the exhibit in May in the Ravna Gora Museum was specific to only active members of the military units of the JVuO. The complete collection and comprehensive data base, all of which will be published in book form, will also include active members and supporters of the Ravna Gora Movement regardless of whether or not they were active members of the wartime military units between 1941 and 1945.

If you know someone in your family or community or parish who was either an active member of the JVUO or active member or supporter of the Ravna Gora Movement, please contact Mr. Branko Jevtic as soon as possible and communicate with him in the Serbian language, if possible.

This is a great and worthy project - a historic initiative that will document how large in scope the Ravna Gora Movement has been and the extent to which the Yugoslav Army of the Homeland under the command of General Draza Mihailovich contributed to the Allied victory over Fascism in World War II.

Bravo to Mr. Jevtic. And thank you.

Sincerely,

Aleksandra Rebic

From Mr. Branko Jevtic:

The Association for Fostering the Heritage of the Ravna Gora Movement has initiated a great project of collecting and recording structural and officer lists of all of the units of the Yugoslav Army in the Homeland (JVUO) and creating a comprehensive data-base of the active members of the JVUO and/or the members and supporters of the Ravna Gora Movement. Up to now we have collected, detailed and organized more than 100,000 names with basic military and biographical data.

For the first time in Serbia, in connection with the 65th anniversary of the victory over Fascism in May of 2010 and on the suggestion of the Memorial Center (Museum) on Ravna Gora, a public exhibit of thousands of names of those who were active members and the structure of the units of the Yugoslav Army in the Homeland was on display in the Ravna Gora Museum.

Later this year, the Association plans to publish the register containing the comprehensive structural, military and biographical data of all of the units of the JVUO.

The founder of the data-base is: Branko M. Jevtic

More from Mr. Jevtic:

Ostale jedinice JVuO, Komanda Crne Gore, Komanda Istocne Bosne i Hercegovine, Komanda Zapadne Bosne i Komanda Dinarske Divizije su uradjene u jedinstvenim spiskovima.

"I am Branko Jevtic, vice-president of Association for Fostering the Heritage of the Ravna Gora Movement. I am primarily involved with collecting military, structural and biographical details about the active members, officers, and units of the JVUO. So far, I have collected about 120,000 names of active members and supporters of the Ravna Gora Movement, including basic personal and military biographical data. Together with each of the names I have included the father's name, last name, occupation, rank, in which unit during the war he or she participated, and where they ended up at the end of the World War II. I have included, whenever available, other data (promotions, decorations, transfers, etc). For this year's 65th anniversary celebration of the Victory over Fascism there was an exhibit in the Memorial Center on Ravna Gora. For this special occasion I selected and exhibited over 50,000 names of active members of the Yugoslav Army in the Homeland.

"Specifically for the exhibit, I considered only the active members and not the supporters of the Ravna Gora Movement (rear guards, ideologists, members of the political forums, supporters of the Movement in the prisoner of war camps, etc.). Therefore, on display were only the names of active members of the military formations of the JVUO. The list was conceived and displayed as follows: All units from Serbia were exhibited by Corps with their complete structure and the names of their officers.  Also displayed were the names of the active members of the military units with the rank they held during the war. The rest of the units of the JVUO were: the Command of Montenegro, the Command of Eastern Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Command of Western Bosnia and the Command of the Dinarska Division which were displayed in specific listings.

"That is a brief explanation of the exhibit. It is necessary to mention that this is the first such public display of the active members of the JVUO. The publication of a book this year containing the data-base of the active members of the JVUO and the supporters of the Ravna Gora Movement is planned. The first such collection is dedicated to the units from Shumadija. It will be necessary to publish 12 such books. As the resources of the Association are relatively limited, it is planned to publish three of these collections this year, and the others later as we collect the funds."

________
